It’s a Cold World Out There
Let’s Keep It that Way

We want to help keep cold, snow, and ice part of the places we live, love, and explore. Because our purpose is to keep you Warm Where It Counts™, we’re also doing our best to keep it cool for the planet.

Keeping It Cool for the Planet

Like you, we’re all about living the cold-weather lifestyle. So we also want help keep cold, snow, and ice part of the places we live, love, and explore. It’s also important to us that these efforts not be an add-on or a way to check a box. Our approach has been to “bake it in” right from the start. Below is how we established that foundation. From here we are looking for more ways to create some good out there.

We look at this as simply cleaning up after ourselves—like taking out the trash—but really just trying to create less trash in the first place.

Materials + Manufacturing

  • PolarJock™ sources materials made in the U.S. and we use a U.S. manufacturer to produce our products.

  • To further reduce transportation, we work with as many partners as possible close to home in the Upper Midwest.

  • The Polartec® fleece we use is 100% Recycled Polyester. Polartec® is also the creator of Eco-Engineering™ which sets the standard for sustainable textiles, including the world’s first fully recycled and biodegradable fleece.

  • We also use minimal labels and packaging made from recycled materials.

Minimal Design = Near Zero Waste

The cutting tables of an apparel-making facility can result in scrap fabric that easily goes in the trash. PolarJock™, however, creates virtually no waste. Here’s why and what else we’re doing to eliminate our impact there as well.

  • To start, PolarJock is minimally designed, streamlined to get the job done with no extra bulk

  • Both our product design and cutting procedures maximize every inch of fabric yardage

  • Whatever small amount of material waste remains is collected and repurposed, “upcycled.” It takes a while to accumulate any substantial amount, but we do collect it for reuse.

Carbon Neutral -> Net Zero

To account for the carbon emissions related to making and shipping our products, we’re turning to carbon offsets. PolarJock™ is working with Native, a Public Benefit Corporation to calculate everything from our office use and electronics to transportation of product materials and shipping to our customers. Our carbon offset contributions will help fund Native’s HelpBuild projects. These projects support innovative solutions to home heating, growing food, recycling waste into bio-fuel, and more across the U.S. and the world. We’ll even be adding a carbon-offset option to our check-out so customers can contribute as well, based on their interest.
